On June 3, 2025 boys age 10-17 from Scout Troop 45 in Glen Ellyn, IL along with parents & leaders were thrilled to speak to operators across Northern IL and from Coast to Coast and the UK on VHF, 20m, 40m, & DMR!  Many asked volunteers from the DuPage Amateur Radio Club about studying and obtaining a license.  Stations were set up in a 5-lane covered drive-through at a closed local bank with our antennas spread across the parking lot.  The solar storm did give many challenges, however, there was success at all four stations and our guests were amazed at the diversity of radios, antennas, contacts, and friendly people on the air.  The kids also did a great job with a post-event game-show with questions about what they learned before going home with packets in-hand that gave more insights into our hobby.  The evening was organized by *Kirk (K9MSG), assisted by volunteers Scott (KA9P), Greg (KG9R), Tom (N9GUN), John (N9HRT), and Jon (KD9QKQ)." Support your club when paying your ARRL Dues!

Note – your payment should be made out to ARRL, but ARRL only pays out the club commission if it is sent in with an accompanying form from the club treasurer.

As an ARRL-affiliated club, DARC is eligible to receive a commission when members join or renew their ARRL membership.  Fill out the ARRL renewal form as usual and make out a check for the amount due payable to ARRL (or fill out the credit card information at the bottom). Then instead of mailing it off to the ARRL, hand it to the club treasurer at a meeting or drop it in the mail to our PO Box (Box 71, Clarendon Hills, IL  60514).

The club treasurer will forward the membership/renewal form and your payment to the ARRL along with a form identifying the affiliated club you belong to. After processing, the ARRL will pay a commission to the club. ($5 for a renewal, $20 for a new membership).  If everyone remembers to do it this way, it can add up and keep the club’s bank balance healthy.  And all it takes is mailing the renewal to the club instead of directly to the ARRL.
